Kingfisher’s Retreat is a charming and beautifully decorated bungalow, part of the Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle group. Guests can either bring their own paddle craft or hire one locally. Situated in the peaceful village of Geldeston, the property is surrounded by picturesque riverside walks, two welcoming village pubs, a church, and a farm shop. It offers two bedrooms, an open-plan living and kitchen area, French doors leading to a private rear garden, and off-road parking.

Geldeston is a delightful village located at the southern end of the Norfolk & Suffolk Broads, within The Broads National Park. It boasts two pubs, a campsite shop, a farm shop, a marina, a church, and a riverside footpath. The village also features an enclosed dog exercise area, a large play park with a sensory garden, outdoor exercise equipment, a basketball court, a football pitch, and a boules pitch.

As the home of Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle, Geldeston offers a range of activities, including the hire of paddleboards, kayaks, Canadian canoes, rowing boats, and electric day boats. Guests are also welcome to launch their own vessels free of charge when booking a stay at Kingfisher’s Retreat.

The two pubs in the village are The Wherry Inn, an Adnams pub located just 0.2 miles (about a 5-minute walk) from the property, and The Locks Community Pub, which is 0.8 miles away, roughly a 20-minute walk along Locks Lane, offering stunning marshland views. The Locks Community Pub is an off-grid establishment lit by candles in the evenings, situated along the Waveney River.

On the way to The Locks Community Pub, you’ll pass Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle, only 0.3 miles from Kingfisher’s Retreat. Here, you’ll find a campsite shop offering local produce, milk, and ice cream in the summer, as well as takeaway drinks year-round. The site also hosts various events, including Pizza, Paddle & Fizz nights, and food trucks serving wood-fired pizza, vegan Thai, paella, crepes, and wraps. You can also access the river from Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle for free with your own paddle items or hire a craft.

Kingfisher’s Retreat is located just a short walk from Three Rivers Pitch & Paddle and the Geldeston Village Play Park. Inside, you’ll find a double bedroom with a king-size bed, a dressing table, and plenty of hanging space. The second bedroom has bunk beds with full-size single mattresses. The modern shower room includes a corner shower unit, electric shower, hand basin, heated and illuminated wall mirror, and WC.

The open-plan living area connects seamlessly to the kitchen, with French doors opening into the enclosed rear garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with an integrated fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, hob, and oven, along with a freestanding Dualit toaster and kettle. Dining is available at the bar top, which is adjacent to the kitchen. The property also features off-road parking and a front garden that enjoys the morning light.
